History of Kajo-Keji Christian College

Kajo-Keji Christian College (KCC) is a private institution established by The Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Diocese of Kajo-Keji. It was founded as Canon Benaiah Poggo Memorial College in 1993. In 1994 due to the second civil war of Southern Sudan, the college relocated to the northern part of Uganda in Adjumani District. It started teaching in 1997 while affiliated to Uganda Christian University Study Centre in St Paul Ringili Arua. In 2000, the college name was changed to ‘Canon Benaiah Poggo Theological College’.

In January 2008, the College was relocated from Adjumani to Kajo-Keji in Southern Sudan. Following the return to Kajo- Keji, the name of the college was changed to “Canon Benaiah Poggo College”. In the same year, the college was given a letter of no objection by the government of Southern Sudan, Ministry of Education Science and Technology Directorate of Higher and Tertiary Education.

The change of the name was to accommodate other relevant disciplines and the name Canon Benaiah Poggo College is to be maintained as a School for theological education when the college achieves the vision to become a full university in the Republic of South Sudan.

College in Moyo

The College when it was located in Moyo, Uganda

In January 2017, violence broke out again in South Sudan and the college was forced to evacuate to Moyo District of Uganda. The college was able to find temporary accommodation and restarted teaching in this new location at the beginning of March 2017.

In July 2021, the college relocated to its campus in Kajo-Keji. Since then, the college has grown considerably and now offers Education, Business Administration & Management and Information Communication Technology (ICT) fundamentals besides Theology.

The college has been working in partnership with the established university of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan            (The Episcopal University (TEU)) and its now offering a Bachelor degree in Theology in relation to the partnership with TEU.
