Diploma of Education Primary

Program Description

The Diploma in Education Primary Program at Kajo-Keji Christian College is designed to equip student teachers with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to excel in the field of primary education. This program contributes to the holistic development of educators, preparing them to engage thoughtfully and effectively in their teaching practices.


This program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in educational studies, enabling them to understand the principles of education, apply appropriate teaching methods, and address the diverse needs of learners in primary school settings.


The curriculum is structured to foster both theoretical understanding and practical skills, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to serve effectively as primary school teachers in their communities. 

Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission for a Diploma of Education Primary(DEP) of KCC, one must have attained the following entry requirements: –

  • Secondary school certificate to be passed atleast 60%
  • A pass in Maths, English, Commerce / Accounts at S.4 
  • Recommendation letter from his/her pastor
  • A candidate who obtained a certificate in the relevant field can join the Diploma program

Objectives of Curriculum

Objectives of the Diploma in Education Program of Kajo-Keji Christian College are;

  • To develop professional and God fearing teachers: Equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective and ethical educators in primary schools, capable of providing educational and Christ centered leadership.
  • To foster problem-solving skills: Preparing teachers to address both academic and non-academic challenges within the education system, enabling them to find and implement effective solutions
  • To build expertise in curriculum development and delivery: Providing students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in curriculum design, development, and delivery.  
  • To promote continuous improvement: Encouraging students to identify and develop effective study skills that they can apply during their training and throughout their careers
  • To provide historical and philosophical context: Ensuring students understand the historical development of South Sudan’s education system and the contributions of major educational philosophers
  • To improve teaching methodologies: Developing competence in various teaching methods, including micro-teaching and reflective practice, to enhance the learning process
  • To address special education needs: Equipping teachers to identify and support learners with special education needs in primary schools, ensuring inclusive education

  • To Understand and appreciate the values of human rights, education, sustainable development and norms of governance.

  • To produce patriotic and law abiding citizens who can use the law to protect the South Sudanese community from any form of prejudice and injustice; 

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this program,students will be expected to:

  • Become professional teacher to provide educational leadership and direction in primary schools
  • Improve the quality of curriculum delivery in the education system
  • Handle academic and non – academic issues, and provide solutions to problems affecting the education system
  • Gain knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies in curriculum design, development and evaluation.
  • Identify study skills for improvement during the training programme 
  • Analyse major developments in South Sudan’s Education System from pre-colonial times to date 
  • Explain the contributions of the major philosophers to education   and apply knowledge of education philosophers in teaching & learning process.
  • Develop competences in methods of teaching
  • Identify learners with special education needs and give the necessary support to enhance their learning. 

Specializations and Career Prospects

Diploma in Education Primary Program generally prepares graduates for careers and roles such as;

1. Educational Support Roles: Assisting lead teachers, providing tutoring, or working in special education programs

2. Community Education: Working in community-based educational programs or NGOs focused on education.

3. Primary School Teacher: Teaching various subjects to students in primary.
